Current Skincare Routine

Before I even start sharing all of my makeup loves on this blog, I think it’s really important to talk about skincare first.

If you want your makeup to look amazing, you have to give it a nice foundation to lay on! This is where skincare comes in. I really only wear makeup on weekends and how my skin looks and feels is really important to me, especially as I enter my late 30’s.

The following products are what I currently use in my daily skincare routine. I have normal to combination skin, slightly oily on the T-zone, but otherwise normal. My skin can be a little sensitive and some products will make me break out or make my skin a little red. I normally do not get pimples, blackheads, or whiteheads on my face, and if I do, I know its because my skin did not agree with a product I was using.

My routine changes from time to time. New products come out that I want to try, or maybe I am not getting a good result from a current product any longer. Being a pharmacist, I can look at the ingredients and know if a product will work for me. And I could spend hours in Sephora testing them all on my hand! But right now, these are the products I am loving:

Murad Anti-Aging Acne Time Release Cleanser

This is my daily cleanser. I only use this in the evenings. In the mornings, I simply rinse my face with warm water and a soft washcloth before applying other products. Anyway, this cleanser is very refreshing and your skin feels great after you use it. I love that it has a small amount of salicylic acid and I am pretty sure this is why I don’t get many breakouts.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion for Dry Combination Skin

A tried and true product! I used clinique in high school (as did many!) and I think this product is why we all look so glowing at that age! Its a mild exfoliator so you are really getting to the pores and cleaning them out. It does tingle a bit because of ingredients like witch hazel and (gasp!) alcohol, but it does not burn. I started using this product again for the first time since I was about 18 a few months ago and I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin tone. I apply it with a cotton round twice daily!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

OK y’all, this stuff is good. I used this years ago and loved it, stopped using it to try other stuff, never found anything that was better, and now I’m back on it! It really helps make your skin brighter and when I started using this again about 2 months ago, I noticed that some dark spots I had from a hormonal breakout a couple of months earlier quickly started to fade. I am currently using this in the morning only. I am using another product in the evening (I am not crazy about it, so I will leave that negativity behind), but this product can very well be used twice daily for an even better effect!

Laneige Water Bank Hydrating Gel

Moisturizers are what I switch most often. But I’ve purchased this one twice now so there is something special about it! I love that the gel formula is really light on the skin, not greasy at all. It does not clog my pores (some products do, then…breakouts). I just really like this product and I think it would work well on MANY different skin types.

belif Peat miracle revial eye cream

This is the newest product in my routine. I purchased this in October. I was using another eye cream, but it was really thick and greasy. I actually loved it for the eye area, but I wanted a change. I already knew I enjoyed belif products, I have used their moisturizing gel in the past as well and it is really nice! Well, I’m loving this eye cream. I think I have come to the realization that no topical product available over the counter will get rid of fine lines. So my main focus now is moisture. Moisturized skin looks more plump and therefore less wrinkly. It is really important to keep your eye area moisturized and this product does a great job of that! I think this would also work well for many skin types.

Sephora The Golden Mask (currently unavailable but sephora has other great masks too)

I do not use a mask everyday, but I try to use them several times a week, so I do consider them a part of my routine. The Sephora sheet masks are really good! I love sheet masks and I have loved several that Sephora offers. The GlamGlow Bubblesheet is an experience! It really foams up and cleans up your face. I use this one if I feel like I need a deep clean. And if you have been following the blog, you already know I fell in love with the Blaq eye masks after In received them in my FabFitFun box. They are so good! I do use other types of masks like clay masks, or gel masks, but sheet masks are my favorite because they are relatively cheap and effective.

I hope this gives you all some ideas for great skincare products. I feel that these products would work well for a majority of people, but sometimes it can be trial and error as each individual will have different skincare needs. But whatever needs you have, there is a product (or 10 LOL) for you!
